By all accounts my first year at PayPal was a productive one. I independently developed a data-driven prototype in only 8 days, followed by a collaborative prototype that demonstrates a frictionless user experience possible in the near future. I next supported our Design team with creative input, usability experience and technical direction, by rapidly iterating on a third prototype app over several months. These projects helped pave the roadmap for streamlining our user experience, growing our business and integrating more deeply with iOS. I next helped a much larger product team integrate many of those best ideas into version 5.0 of our PayPal app, which is used by millions of customers. Many of my contributions are highly visible to users. But as an architect I was also instrumental in helping to modernize our code base to embrace MVC using Core Data, Storyboards and KVO design patterns. This was quite a challenge considering the staggering amount of legacy baggage at play in any app of this complexity.
