Believe it or not, most award-winning animated productions today are shot on DSLR cameras — not more expensive film or video cameras. To reduce flicker (a known problem among animators), Canon’s automatic aperture lenses must be swapped out with a Nikon manual aperture lens. That way the shutter always returns to the same fully-closed position after each shot, unlike Canon’s lenses.
