Hard Enough

Lyrics from Blaspheme by tOdd

Why won’t I heal amputees, you ask?
That’s a really excellent question
If you still had your limbs
You could swim any direction
One that might lead away from Me

Why will I do it for lizards… and starfish?
Another amazingly intellectual query
Because they feel a different pain, you see
But no need to get all teary
I don’t love them the same as you

You’re special, you see
They say faith is tough, but…
It’s not a lie if you believe hard enough

So why do I allow so much suffering?
What a wonderfully misguided thought
Do you think this is easy to watch up here
You reject everything you were all taught
Still fighting over little old Me?

So why don’t I ever answer your prayers?
Oh please, now that really offends
I think I’ll give you something to cry about
The deaths of more comrades and friends
It’s all part of My plan for you, now

You’re special, you see
They say faith is tough, but…
It’s not a lie if you believe hard enough

So look, don’t blame Me
You all volunteered
You signed up to slaughter
The man in the beard

You didn’t get their oil
You didn’t earn respect
And now you’re still poor
You can’t stand erect

You gave an arm and a leg
Now where’s your parade?

Another pointless charade.

You’re special, you see
They say faith is tough, but…
It’s not a lie if you believe hard enough
